Operations, needles, and doctors in white coats: these are all things that children often find frightening. This is because they have little to no hospital experience and don’t know what to expect. International student association IFMSA-Groningen therefore organised the Teddy Bear Hospital again to help children overcome their fear of doctors
Under the guidance of students acting as doctors, the children can cure their stuffed animals of whatever ails them. For example, they can plaster a painful leg, administer medicine to their cuddly toy or brush their teeth. At the end of each session, the children receive a diploma which allows them to call themselves ‘bear doctor’.
