Student association Vindicat wants to address the issue of declining reading habits among students. Therefore, they are collaborating with author Marc Bennink to organise a literary gathering for their members.
According to Bennink, the decline in reading among students is quite high. That’s why he wants to encourage this group to read again, ‘even if it means making it mandatory during the introduction period’. Vindicat is a suitable location, he feels, partly because three prominent Dutch authors (Gerard Reve, Simon Vestdijk, and W.F. Hermans) were members of Vindicat.
Those attending the event on September 26 will receive Bennink’s latest book to read. During the gathering, various authors, such as Maarten Veeger and Haro Kraak, will also present readings from their own works.
