The Faculty of Economics and Business wants to transition from whole grades to ‘fractional grading,’ where grades are rounded to the nearest half grade. Earlier, software limitations made it seem like this was impossible.
In the faculty council meeting last week, it became apparent that students feel this doesn’t accurately reflect their mastery of the subject matter. Moreover, fractional grading makes achieving ‘cum laude’ honours fairer: students consistently scoring 7.5 won’t be eligible anymore.
The faculty aims to implement this change for the academic year 2025/2026.
