This means UG students will be able to go back to the lab for practical classes. The university is also allowed to administer exams in person again.

The relaxation of the rules does come with a few basic measures, like social distancing, to combat the spread of the coronavirus.

Laboratory

What this means exactly for students who want to do lab work isn’t clear. A few researchers were allowed back into labs on May 11. In order to curtail the spread of the virus, only a few of them are allowed inside at the same time. Universities also have to schedule classes in such a way that students don’t have to travel during rush hour.

The laboratories will stay open late to allow the researchers to make up for lost research time. The UG hasn’t yet announced how this will affect students. The university also still needs to determine how to apply the relaxed rules to organising exams.
