The Groningen Students’ Union (GSb) condemns the ‘police violence used against students’ who demonstrated on Wednesday for the UG’s severing of ties with Israel.
During a march through the city centre, demonstrators forced their way into a UG building on Oude Boteringestraat, after which, according to the GSb, ‘the police cracked down’. According to chairman Ken Hesselink, the police action was ‘disproportionate and intimidating and contributed to the situation escalating’.
