Students’ tuition fees to be halved next year
Students’ tuition fees to be halved next year
Outgoing education minister Ingrid van Engelshoven wants to halve tuition fees for all students next academic year, the NOS reports based on sources in The Hague.
Last week, the Lower House voted in favour of a motion to give all students who fall behind in their studies due to corona a free academic year. Van Engelshoven does not seem to see a solution in that proposal. Instead, she would like to propose halving the tuition fee for all students for one year.
The proposal is part of a plan to eliminate learning disadvantages throughout Dutch education. The plan will be presented Wednesday afternoon and should cost between 6 and 8.5 billion euros in total.
