UG in fourth place in Keuzegids 2021
UG in fourth place in Keuzegids 2021
Because of the pandemic, the editors at the Keuzegids have used different criteria than in previous years. For example, they re-used the National Student Survey (NSE) from 2019, since they didn’t have a 2020 survey.
‘The corona crisis has prevented us from implementing the National Student Survey last academic year’, the editors write. ‘The pandemic has had such an impact on education that the NSE would probably lead to a distorted picture.’
‘It’s no surprise, therefore’, they write, ‘that this year’s rankings are very similar to last year’s rankings.’
Top programmes
Just like last year, the UG bachelors archaeology and minorities & multilingualism are the best bachelors in their field in the Netherlands. Archaeology is also in second place on the list of the sixty-two top programmes in the country.
The UG also scores well when it comes to the grasp of English of lecturers teaching international programmes. In this category, the university scores 3.8 out of 5 points, coming in second after Maastricht, which scores 4 points.
Job security
Students looking for job security should study dentistry, according to the Keuzegids. The rest of the top five is taken up by international business, business administration, econometrics, and chemistry. The editors base the scores on a combination of factors: how many students graduate in four years, how many graduates have a job within eighteen months of finishing, and how many graduates have a permanent contract.
Programmes to avoid if you’re looking for job security are art history, international and European law, philosophy, political science, and archaeology.
