‘Let’s see how the MartiniPlaza XL location works out’

‘We were talking to the UMCG and Hanze about setting up our own test lane’, Hans Biemans told the university council on Thursday. ‘But the government’s decision to open up extra test lanes has caught up with us.’

The new GGD location at the MartiniPlaza is the first XL location in the Netherlands. It has eight testing lanes and the capacity to test 2,500 people a day. People can visit the location by car and bicycle or even on foot. They can expect the result from their test within a few hours.

Biemans says this doesn’t mean the university’s plans are cancelled per se. The UG wants to see how the location at the Martiniplaza works out and then discuss if speed-testing can help the uni in some other way.

‘Right now, we’re talking about the other issues we could solve through speed-testing. Perhaps we can use it for events where a lot of people gather in a large room.’
