No entrance to UG buildings without a face mask

Eerder werkte ze als stadsredacteur Groningen en gemeenteverslaggever Haren voor Dagblad van het Noorden.Up until Tuesday, wearing a mask was an ‘urgent recommendation’, but that has now become an obligation.
The mandate goes for all UG buildings, but also for queues in front of the UB and the Aletta Jacobs hall – busy locations now that exam weeks are starting. ‘You are permitted to remove your face covering when seated. Face coverings will be available for those who forgot to bring their own’, the university writes.
Ever since prime minister Rutte announced stricter corona measures in a press conference last week, the university has made working from home mandatory again as well.
UG staff and students are expected to work from home, unless they are unable to do so. Exceptions can be made for work that has to be done on location, like lab work or reception work.
Personal contact
Because of this, employees are no longer able to meet at the office once a week. The UG wanted to facilitate the personal contact between employees as much as possible, but considering the rapid rise in covid-19 infections, the situation is now too dire for that.
Nothing much else will change at the university. All education has been exempt from the government-mandated limitations on maximum group size and public transport.
This means on-site education and research can go ahead as planned, taking the RIVM guidelines – ventilating rooms and keeping 1.5 metres distance at all times – into account.
