Travel advice to Italy updated, Vindicat continues to ski
On Tuesday, the ministry of Foreign Affairs updated the travel advice for all of northern Italy from a code yellow to a code orange. The advice is to not travel to this region unless absolutely necessary.
Last Saturday, when the travel advice was not as severe, nine hundred Vindicat members travelled to Sestriere on an anniversary trip. The group will return to the Netherlands this Sunday. For Sestriere, approximately forty kilometres from Turin and close to the borders, there is currently a code orange as well.
RIVM
In the media, Jaap van Dissel, chair of the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM), said on Tuesday that the Vindicat members ‘should take care of themselves’.
Any members who start showing symptoms of a cold should sequester themselves and don’t make contact with people. Van Dissel said getting groceries wouldn’t be a problem but advised against attending any parties.
No changes
According to UG spokesperson Jorien Bakker, the university is in contact with Vindicat. However, it’s up to the association itself to take measures. ‘Vindicat is in contact with RIVM and the national health service. We’re following the RIVM’s guidelines and there’s currently no reason to do anything differently than what we’ve been doing.’
The UG is keeping up to date with any changes and will update its own information page whenever necessary.
