The master programme in marine biology at the Faculty of Science and Engineering has been awarded the designation of ‘excellent programme’ in the latest edition of the Keuzegids Masters.
It is one of fifteen university-level master programmes to receive this recognition in the guide, which will be published on Thursday. Including university of applied sciences (HBO) master programmes, a total of twenty-one programmes received the designation—marking the first time the list of excellent master programmes exceeds twenty.
The marine biology programme received particularly high ratings in areas such as content, faculty, assessment methods, career preparation, and overall atmosphere. However, admission to this program is selective.
Thirty students
Each year, a maximum of thirty students are admitted. To be selected, applicants must submit references, a motivation letter, and examples of written work and essays.
The Keuzegids Masters rankings are based on data from the National Student Survey (NSE), a nationwide satisfaction survey for students at research universities and universities of applied sciences. The survey evaluates programmes on aspects such as overall satisfaction, curriculum structure, and student engagement.
The latest Keuzegids Masters is based on NSE data from 2024.
