Come Monday, every student gets to vote on who they want to be represented by on the council.
Perhaps you already know who you’ll be voting for, or maybe this is the first time you’ve heard about the elections. To lend a helping hand, UKrant has designed a voting compass, where you can answer ten statements and find out which of the parties you agree with most.
How it works
You’ll find a different statement on each page. All student parties – De Vrije Student, Lijst Calimero, Studenten Organisatie Groningen, as well as new parties Vrijmoedige StudentenPartij and Stronger Voice for Students – provided us with their viewpoints on these statements.
For each statement, you click the viewpoint you agree with. After doing this for all ten statements, you’ll be given an overview telling you which party you agree with most.
The answers below the statements are short versions of the parties’ viewpoints. If you’d like to read a more extensive version of a party’s viewpoint, you can go to the bottom of the page of each statement.
Would you like to hear for yourself what the parties have to say? The Groninger Studentenbond will be organising the annual election debate between party leaders on Thursday, 8 May, at 7 p.m. You can attend the debate in person in the Academy building’s Senate room.
The elections run from 12 through 16 May. Both students and staff can vote. On Monday, May 12, everyone at the university will receive a digital ballot by email. You can use this ballot to vote for the university council as well as your own faculty or service department.
The election results will be announced on Monday, May 19.
