For over four weeks, pro-Palestine demonstrators had an encampment on Harmony square. On Wednesday, this came to an end. A march through the city centre got out of hand, a UG building was occupied, and the police intervened.

Time: 13:03 – The uni before the protest ↑ In the early afternoon, the uni was still licking its wounds and trying to get rid of the slogans on the Heymans building that had been sprayed there a day before
Time: 15:10 – Gathering City hall ↑ The demonstration started at the Grote Markt, where students and staff members held speeches before marching to the Herestraat
Time: 15:50 – Die-in at the Herestraat ↑ Protesters organise a die-in in front of Zara as the spokesperson holds a speech
Time: 16:43 – Line up in front of number 23 ↑ Protesters create a human chain to stop the police from getting close in front of UG building at Oude Boteringstraat 23
Time: 17:30 – Protesters enter the Arts building ↑ Inside, protesters are releasing smoke bombs in Palestinian flag colors after putting up a banner
Time: 17:36 – Arrests are being made ↑ Meanwhile, an arrest was made on the corner of the Oude Boteringe and Rode Weeshuisstraat. The protester was forced into a police van and driven away. Another protester completely freaked out, crying hysterically for people to call 112

Time: 19:15 – Protesters go back to the encampment ↑ After the Oude Boteringe 23 was cleared, protesters went back to the encampment, chanting all the way
Time: 21: 25 – Clearing the encampment ↑ Police arrive at the encampment in riot gear and with vans, setting up black screens to secure the area
