Do you ever feel lonely? Don’t worry, you’re not the only one. Unfortunately, loneliness is a hot button issue, especially since the pandemic.
In late December, UKrant approached a random sampling of students outside the University Library, where several of them said they occasionally felt lonely (see video).
One of the things we asked them is what loneliness means to them. They answered that it can be a feeling of emptiness, being alone in the world, and a need for social contacts.
In order to gain insight into the phenomenon, UKrant is studying loneliness among students in Groningen. How widespread is the issue, where does this feeling of loneliness come from, and what can we do to stop it?
