The Dutch Inspectorate of Education will be conducting an investigation at the University of Groningen until the end of this year. The investigation was launched in response to ‘signals from students.’
This has been confirmed by a spokesperson for the inspectorate. The exact focus of the investigation has not been disclosed.
It is clear, however, that initial conversations with students have already taken place. According to the spokesperson, these began in the spring. The interviews are being conducted at the Faculty of Arts, the Faculty of Law, and the Faculty of Medical Sciences.
Broader picture
That doesn’t necessarily mean the investigation is about those specific faculties, the spokesperson clarified. The inspectorate’s goal is to gain a broader picture. ‘We speak with students from all faculties. The inspectorate makes random selections of where and with whom they speak.’
