Dutch language courses substantially cheaper
This is the second time the UG has landed the national Tel mee met Taal subsidy, but this academic year, there are forty extra spots available; last year, sixty people could take the course at a discount.
‘That’s good news,’ says Anna Nysingh, coordinator of the Dutch section of the Language Centre, ‘because we want more international staff members to be able to fully participate in university life.’ In order to do that, it’s important to speak and understand Dutch, she says. ‘For example, some faculties require their staff to have at least level B1 to get a promotion.’
Employees can sign up for a group course or an individual language course up to level B1 for a maximum discount of 67 percent, or 802 euros. Forty spots have already been taken. In order to get the discount, select the Tel mee met Taal option on the payment page.
