Covid-like complaints as the ideal excuse – be honest, do you use them?

Do you ever have doubts when a fellow student has yet another runny nose and is therefore allowed to miss a required lecture? Isn’t it just an excuse? That’s what UKrant would like to know too.

Some people seem to have a runny nose, or a suspicious cough. Precisely at the moment when they have a presentation or an exam. ‘So inconvenient’, they then say. ‘But I don’t want to accidentally infect anyone, better safe than sorry!’

‘Sure thing,’ is the logic reply. ‘You’d better stay at home.’

UKrant would like to know how this works: how often do students use COVID as an easy excuse to get out of educational obligations? And are we all okay with that?
