Students may be allowed to return to uni in late April
Outgoing health minister Hugo de Jonge announced this in Tuesday’s press conference about the national corona measures. Students will be able to enter their classrooms only if they test negative on a rapid test at a testing centre or at home. According to De Jonge, the government is looking into how free self-testing kits can be provided to the public.
Universities won’t be able to use their full capacity yet, though, because the distance measures are staying in place.
Curfew
Due to the increasing number of coronavirus infections, outgoing prime minister Mark Rutte extended all current lockdown measures until April 20. The only slight difference will be in the curfew hours.
Because of the switch to daylight savings time on March 28, which means it will be light outside until later in the evening, the curfew has been pushed back by an hour. As of March 31, people will have to stay inside from 10 p.m. onwards. The end time of 4.30 a.m. will remain the same.
This means grocery stores will be able to push their opening hours as well and stay open until 9.45 p.m.
Terraces
The government had said in early March that it hoped outdoor cafés would be able to open by Easter. But because the infection rates are rising again, terraces will remain closed until at least April 20.
Whether any further measures can be relaxed will be announced at the next press conference on April 13.
