UG experiments with quick-test lane
The UG, Hanze University of Applied Sciences, and the UMCG will work together to set up a quick-test lane to test staff and students for the coronavirus.
UG board president Jouke de Vries announced this on Twitter on Sunday. The institutes will employ ‘mobile teams’ consisting of students who will test for the coronavirus in students and personnel.
The UG hopes the experiment will relieve the current pressure on the GGD and lead to faster test results. The experiment will also provide the opportunity for medical students to gain experience that will count towards their education.
The test lane is also interesting from a scientific research standpoint, although its exact contribution still needs to be worked out. ‘We’re having meetings this week to work everything out’, says UG spokesperson Jorien Bakker. ‘But suffice it to say we’re really happy with these plans.’
