Arts cancels mandatory attendance due to corona

Will students be punished if they decide to stay home for two weeks because they’re potentially infected with the coronavirus?
No worries
Vice dean and educational portfolio manager Roel Jonkers says they won’t be. ‘If the GGD tells people to stay home, they don’t have to worry about anything. Classes they’ve missed will not count towards their attendance record.’
Jonkers refers, among others, to the Vindicat students who recently returned from a skiing trip to Italy, but emphasises that this applies to everyone. ‘It’s entirely possible for people to come into contact with the virus some other way, so this doesn’t only apply to Vindicat.’
He also says that the advice to stay home doesn’t need to come from the GGD. ‘We mean staying home at the advice of the GGD in general.’
Calling in sick
Students staying home in connection with the coronavirus should let the university know by phone or by e-mail. The board says students should call in sick both with the programme’s secretariat and with the lecturers whose classes they’ll be missing.
Over the next few weeks, the board will determine whether students will need to do any assignments to make up for the missed classes.
